N Pepakura Viewer, there are many features to help you show and print developments and construct paper crafts.You’re going to need a few materials for this next part, and in the axe, let’s get those ready ahead of time. So what do you have to do to get there from here? Let’s do it together…Pepakura Viewer is a Free Dedicated Viewer that shows works created by Pepakura Designer. There is also a vague concept that these shapes can become something awesome in 3-D.

Having the 3-D model right there for reference can help with construction.With most things I like to do all of the cutting first, but what if you have a pep file that’s more than a few pages long? That can become a LOT of pieces floating about. Diversion (you will be cutting, folding, and gluing for a few hours now, so I recommend having some music or putting on a movie you’ve already seen to help keep you from going stir crazy).Once you have all that, keep your computer handy with the file opened up in either Pepakura viewer or Pepakura designer. Tape (your basic clear cellophane tape just in case you tear something) Glue (some people use Elmers, I use superglue because I am terrible with sticky things and so I need it to stick fast before I mess it up). Cork backed metal ruler (such as seen here)

Use the computer model to help you find pieces around your starting piece, again you can select them on the 3-D model and it will highlight the 2-D equivalent. Some people recommend scoring (or lightly cutting the surface) of the folds, I haven’t tried that yet (but I will on the next one and let you know!) I just use the edge of the metal ruler and fold everything like a valley fold (toward me), then flip the ones that are supposed to be mountains. I recommend you cut out the entire piece, then fold it. He has a few other instructables on how to get the most out of the pepakura program so read them all and while you’re on Instructables.com, feel free to explore for more ideas and tips! This instructable was made by krsiak, and is a great intro to paper craft so please go check it out and he has a couple related youtube videos as well here. Don’t freak out if the paper model isn’t exactly perfect, do the best you can and keep going, you can fix any small mistakes later in future steps! Don’t forget to take breaks, it took me 1hr 20mins to cut out the pieces, and I folded and glued them together over a total of around 6 hours split between two days. Keep referencing back to the computer model and it should proceed slowly but fairly accurately. I recommend cutting a piece out completely, and making all the folds before gluing, even if you’re gluing it to itself. This is the time consuming part of the process, cutting, folding, and gluing the pieces together slowly to build the form.
